Spey Bay Golf Club remains one of Moray Speyside’s most authentic and compelling links experiences, nestled where the River Spey meets the Moray Firth. Originally designed by Ben Sayers in 1907, this traditional layout has long attracted golfing purists—but now it’s entering a bold new chapter.

In 2022–23, Spey Bay was acquired by Links Golf Club (also known as LinksDAO), a golf collective backed by global membership funding. Since then, the club has retained Clayton, DeVries & Pont (CDP) to lead a visionary transformation, including a fully reversible 18-hole championship layout with up to 22 greens, providing five unique routings—a truly forward-thinking innovation in Scottish links golf. As part of the phased renovation, the first reversible holes opened in 2025, with players now able to experience the course in alternate directions—a rare feature among links courses. This means every round can feel entirely new, making Spey Bay not just a course to play, but a destination to revisit.

Despite these changes, Spey Bay has retained its classic, natural feel: fast-running gorse-lined fairways, undulating greens and the ever-present sound of waves. The humble clubhouse embraces the coastal charm and continues to offer a warm welcome and essential amenities. The 2025 opening of reversible holes marks the beginning of its transformation into a true championship-quality links.
