Perched above the cliffs of the Moray Firth, Hopeman Golf Club offers one of the most scenic and enjoyable rounds in Moray Speyside. Located between Lossiemouth and Burghead, this charming coastal links is famous for its elevated views, warm hospitality, and a signature par-3 that’s among the most dramatic in Scotland.
Founded in 1909, the course began as a 9-hole layout before being extended to 18 holes in the 1980s. The expanded course was designed by the club itself and now stretches to just over 6,000 yards, offering a blend of challenge and enjoyment for all handicaps. Its natural links setting features undulating fairways, gorse, and exposed views that can make club selection in the wind a rewarding test.
The standout hole – the 12th, known locally as “Prieshach” – is a 150-yard par 3 played from an elevated tee high on the cliffside down to a green nestled in a cove below. It’s one of the most photographed holes in the region and a true highlight of the Golf Moray experience.
Hopeman is known for its friendly, down-to-earth atmosphere. The clubhouse overlooks the final green and provides a welcoming spot for visitors, with light refreshments and stunning views across the sea. Green fees are excellent value, and the course is usually playable year-round.
