Golf in Moray

Located in the heart of Moray Speyside, Elgin Golf Club is one of the region’s premier inland courses. Set on the edge of the historic cathedral town of Elgin, the course offers a beautifully maintained parkland layout that combines natural scenery with a welcoming club atmosphere – making it a favourite base for golfers exploring the area.

Founded in 1906 and extended to 18 holes in 1924, Elgin Golf Club has matured into a top-quality venue recognised for its consistency, conditioning, and layout variety. The design features tree-lined fairways, strategic bunkering, and elevated greens that reward accuracy and smart course management. Playing just under 6,500 yards from the back tees, the course is a fair but challenging test for all handicaps. Elgin Golf Club is ranked inside the top 100 golf courses in Scotland in 2025 making it a must play in the region.

Standout holes include the long par-5 5th, which winds through a narrow corridor of pine, and the strong par-4 18th – a demanding finishing hole played towards the clubhouse that often requires a well-struck long iron or hybrid into the green. The layout is easy to walk and offers scenic views across surrounding farmland and woodland.

Elgin’s modern clubhouse provides a full range of facilities for visitors, including a well-stocked pro shop, spacious changing areas, and a restaurant and bar with views over the course. With its central location and proximity to the Speyside Malt Whisky Trail, Elgin is ideally placed for golfers looking to combine top-class golf with cultural and culinary experiences.
