Cullen Links Golf Club offers a truly unique experience on the Moray Firth coast, nestled beneath dramatic red sandstone cliffs in the charming harbour town of Cullen. Known for its quirky layout, sea views, and one-of-a-kind character, this course is one of Moray Speyside’s most distinctive links—and it’s now proudly featured on the Old Tom Morris Trail, celebrating courses designed or influenced by the legendary 19th-century architect.
Originally laid out by Old Tom Morris in 1870 as a 9-hole course, Cullen has retained much of its historic charm while evolving into a fun and memorable 18-hole layout. The course was extended in 1905, and although compact in length (just over 4,600 yards), it is packed with creativity and challenge. Ten par 3s and numerous blind shots over towering rock formations make it one of the most characterful rounds in Scottish golf.
Signature holes include the unforgettable 7th, where golfers must play over a massive cliff face to a green hidden below—arguably one of the most photographed holes in Scotland. The course plays fast and firm, with tight lies, links turf, and ever-present sea breezes keeping golfers on their toes.
Cullen’s setting, hospitality, and historic pedigree make it a worthy stop on any golf tour. The friendly clubhouse serves as the perfect spot to relax after your round, and the village itself is full of charm, with local eateries, sea views, and nearby accommodation.
Why Play Here: Cullen is golf as it used to be—historic, scenic, fun, and slightly wild. A true Old Tom Morris original that belongs on every golf enthusiast’s Moray Speyside itinerary.
Experience Cullen’s charm and history as part of the Old Tom Morris Trail—play one of Scotland’s most entertaining and scenic seaside links.
